Day 1 - You Have A Family

" But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, He gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” -John 1:12-13

Status Update - It’s Heaven official. Your status went from being lost to found! You are now a member of God’s family, and as one of God’s people, there are a few things you should know about yourself.

You are A New Creation! (2Corinthians 5:17)

Your Heavenly Father is the King of the Universe. As one of His children, you have His royal Spirit living right inside of you (1Cor 6:19). You are not a poor beggar, you are not a helpless victim, you have been adopted into a royal family, you are royalty (1Peter 2:9)! In your old life, you may have struggled to find a place to belong, but not anymore! There’s a spot for you at God’s table. You have a seat of honour because Jesus offered you one and you accepted His invitation. You are invited, accepted, secure and have a whole new life ahead of you! (Jer 29:11) Even though your status changes immediately in Heaven, (Eph 2:8) it takes a bit longer to be transformed on the inside. There might be some old patterns of thinking that may try to lure you back to places and people that are harmful to you. Don’t go back to those places. Protect your heart from falling into traps that will  keep you captive to pain (Romans 12:2). Allow God to have your whole heart, trust Him freely, Ask for His spirit that is living inside of you to give you His power to make wise choices (Phil 2:13). Spend time talking to Him and learning more about Him. Becoming a Christian isn’t about joining a religion or doing your best to be a good person. It is about allowing God take you as you are (scars and all), and transform you into the person He created you to be all along. Today He picks you up, and brushing off the dirt He places a crown of beauty on your head. He silences the sorrow from days past, and sings joy over and into your heart. Lastly, with pride He stands you tall and covers you with new royal clothes. You never knew you could look so radiant, but God knew all along (Isaiah 61:3).

Welcome to the family, you belong here!

Prayer: “God, thank you for adopting me into your family. Help me to walk away from the destructive patterns of my old life and change me from the inside out. I give you permission to make me who you’ve always seen me to be. Amen”
